The biggest year for Galverse yet. Let's look back on 2024, and take a peek at what's ahead.

Welcome to the twenty first Shinsei Galverse newsletter, shooting across time and space to make the galaxy a better place! Here’s the rundown this month:

We finished up 2024 with fashion collabs, app launches, xmas parties, and a whole lot of gratitude for our supporters, holders, community members and fans! It also marked three years since the team first got together.
2025 is going to be Galverse’s biggest year yet. Not only will you see the launch of our anime pilot, but many other anime-adjacent projects and collabos coming to life!

Heisei Gals Run to Nike Shibuya!

ジャストドゥイット！！ Ayaka collaborated with Nike Japan to launch their new 「NIKE BY YOU」store in the centre of Shibuya!

Inspired by gyaru fashion and anime from the 90s Heisei era, Ayaka created 17 artworks spanning manga, anime, and old school fitness fashion fits.

You can head to the store at Shibuya Station, grab a piece of Nike apparel, and customize it with Ayaka’s Heisei Gal artworks. Check out her walkthrough below!

The collaboration runs for several more months, although certain prints are already selling out. Arrive early, as there are limited customization spots each day and so far they've been consistently booked out!

Our First App - VTube with gal:cast!

Prepare for launch! Our first app is now live on the iOS App store in testflight! gal:cast is a best-in-class VTubing app for iPhone and iPad.

When we saw VToobi shutdown earlier this year, we saw the opportunity to innovate and upgrade!

Team Galverse bought the tech behind the app, redesigned it from ground up, and spent six months working with GalTech wizard Sally Danger to bring it to life again.

gal:cast features super smooth + accurate tracking using the iPhone’s TrueDepth system, custom VTuber uploads, custom backgrounds, rear camera streaming, and is the only couch co-op multiplayer VTubing app out there.

In other words, it’s not just the best Galverse VTubing app, but the best VTubing app, period.

Galverse Xmas Party with Zora!

We held an awesome xmas gathering in Daikanyama for the Gals! Thanks to Zora for sponsoring the event and coming to hang out with us.

Rally up in Daikanyama for a Christmas celebration!

Superstar Gal Asami organized the event, Zak gave us the lowdown on Zora, and everyone celebrated with giveaways, gifts, and good cheer!

3D D:D Locks In! Bonsai Contest!

We partnered up with our friends at BONSAI for another 3D creator contest!

Modelling expert HappyPaca brought one of our favorite characters, D:D, to life as a .VRM model available to all Gals - and we wanted to see what our creative community could do!

Selene’s entry took first place featuring animation captured from her own Qi Gong exercises. It’s a peaceful meditation on the nature of bonsai! She took home a prize of 200,000 $BONSAI worth about $2,500~.

There were so many other incredible entries as well! Cable put together this super kawaii song about a Small Forest! We love it!

RIS-707 went deep techno with an artistic music video that makes full use of D:D’s flowing droidlocks. We love that color scheme.

Anime Updates!

Things are moving fast at the studio! We’re locking in the dates for dubbing (putting all the music, voice over, and sound effects against the anime) and All Rush (where we sit down and watch the near complete anime to check for any required retakes).

All background art is effectively complete, with everything coming from Ogura Koubou looking amazing. Check out Dr Wagami’s lab below!

Speaking of Dr Wagami - here’s a process shot showing Director Ayaka’s animation direction clean up at work - moving from the layout to final artwork.

Last newsletter, you saw a preview of the eye catcher. Here’s Ayaka’s final touches on that too! It won’t be long until we can show you final in-betweened and colored anime!

We spent the last couple of weeks finalizing the English subtitle translation. We also received the final mixed tracks from our music producer and they’re sounding great.

It won’t be long before the launch campaign kicks into gear! Expect loads of awesome announcements, video and BTS content, and much more as we work towards release.

The Gals Hit Yokogao Mag!

Yokogao Mag is one of the biggest outlets for fans of Japanese culture, so we were super happy to sit down with their team for an interview about all things Galverse!

Writer Moe Wang chatted to Ayaka and Wai-chan about the origins of the project and the journey to bringing the anime to life. It’s a good read!

“When I thought about what kind of theme I could present if I were to make it, I thought about fighting with love and forgiving the enemy instead of just defeating them. Though the act of forgiving can be difficult sometimes,” says Ayaka.

Wai-chan at Devcon!

Wai-chan was at Devcon in BKK back in November to give a talk on building resilient communities as part of the Onchain Creator’s Hub!

It’s 45 minutes of deep diving into how the best online community ever (Galverse of course) was built and what we’ve been up to with the Gals over the last three years!

JR Gallery in Akihabara!

Our partnership with JR has nearly finished up, following a successful showing of the Galverse art at JR Akihabara station! There was a nice display of merch, art, and NFT sales for visitors who stopped in.

You can still find Galverse at Shinanomachi Station for a while yet!

Looking back at 2024!

Another year of hardwork is behind us - with thousands of hours on the job, thousands of coffees and cups of tea! Maybe even more than 2023! Let’s review:

Took over LEVI’s flagship store in Harajuku! And now Nike in Shibuya!
Debuted with Sweet Revenge and hit 1.7m views on their Galverse themed launch video for ‘Might Just’
Our first MV for Tove Lo’s ‘I like u’ hit 650k views!
Launched Mama v2, our best AI image generator model yet! The community have generated tens of thousands of images with Mama!
Launched the beautiful and informative Galverse Lore Book!
Saw Director Ayaka and Galverse featured in GQ Japan, WWD Japan, Tokyo Weekender and more media across the world!
Launched our first app, gal:cast!
Held events across the world, from Denver to Tokyo.
That includes our best ever party, Lens x Mask x Gals for Edcon 2024!
Held contests for our new AI and 3D tech with thousands of dollars of prizes!
Took part in galleries across Tokyo, from underground local events to collaborating with big galleries, brands, and instituations!
Collabo’ed with heaps of other projects and brands like RSTLSS, TITLES, BONSAI and many more!
Shipped loads of nice extra features across our community and web channels, like the Lens Legacy page on Gal Profiles!
Held a bunch of WAGMAA assignments covering subtitles, getting your Gal in the anime and more!
Made huge progress on the anime, moving from storyboards to layouts to near final work on keyframing, translating the script and subtitles, producing the music from scratch including an awesome theme song,
+ all of that while sharing the best BTS bits with Galverse holders and community members!

That’s just the stuff we can share! 2024 was also a foundational year putting future partnerships, projects, and anime launch hype into place. It’s going to get even better.
